Top Ten Reasons For My Change

YES, it been awhile since I posted! I had end of the year stuff to do for work, which limited my computer time! Then factor in the fact that I don't have Internet at home and there you have folks, NO POST! Well, I have thought about my top ten reasons for embarking on my weight loss journey. They will be posted below and know that I don't care what any one else thinks.


10) This may seem silly, but my number 10 reason for weight loss is wanting to be able to tumble. Yes, I would like to flip, do cart wheels and a tuck. I realize the tuck is pushing it, but oh well. Gravity is NOT your friend when you have weight on. Especially when you have boobs. 

9) I would like normal sized boobs. I am currently a  44DDD/44F and these puppies are heavy. Yes, they look cute in outfits and they hide your belly a little, but overall they are annoying. I could totally be happy with a C or D cup. 







8) Tummy issues. Both of my grandparents have issues with their stomachs, they have the opposite of one another, and in the last few years I have had all sorts of issues. I really believe that with both of them having those issues, it could very well skip my mom and head straight to me or my brother. 

7) It's time for a new wardrobe, but not one that consist of the clothes and sizes I have. My style is more on the preppy side, think J.Crew and the Gap, and I would like to venture into those stores. 


6) I have a class reunion scheduled for next year. I'm kinda bummed it's been 10 years! Seriously, where did the time go? I was looking through a yearbook and I look the same. I have been the same size since high school. My thoughts are that instead of seeing old faces next year and getting the reaction, "Oh, you look the same!", I would much rather hear, "Wow! You look different!" 

5) I know that processed food is horrible and so does everyone who eat it. However, that has not stopped me from engaging in bad food decisions. Honestly, I am creeped out by the fact that mold or other creepy stuff doesn't happen to food from fast food restaurants. My stomach has been prepping itself for a few years now. I can't digest anything from most fast food restaurants, especially Burger King, unless it's from Chick Fil A or Zaxby's. 


4) Insurance sucks. At least mine does. The copay is a ridiculous amount! No, really it is! I would like to have to visit the doctor for my annual and that's it. I am not fond of doctors, however I would date/marry one, and most certainly can't stand anything medically related. It puts me in the mind of death. 

3) I adore GOOD children. One day I would like to be a mom of three or four of my own. I know that plus sized women have children all of the time. I also know that being pregnant is basically being sick for 40 weeks. It would be great if the weight I had didn't cause a concern for me, on top of what I will endure while being pregnant. I seriously don't want people to assume I having multiples because I was big already. I have a friend who was plus size during her first pregnancy and you could not tell she was pregnant. Yeah, no that's not going to happen over here! Those same kids I plan on having will be wild little ones and I need the energy to keep up! I pretty much can run, jump, and play now, but I would like to increase the time I am able to do so. 

2) Lately, I have thought that this journey is one that is also a Spiritual one as well. I'll have a separate post on that later. 

1) My number one reason is...............   HEALTH!!!! Diabetes, Blood Pressure and any other disease is what I would like to avoid. I am currently on medication and would like to come off of it and STAY off of it! I don't think these drugs help as much as they harm. I want the energy of a cheetah, rather than a slug. People who eat better, exercise, and have a good relationship with our Savior just seem happier. I am ready for that happiness! I have this thought that my ADHD has gotten worse because of my poor eating habits! I need to learn to control it, without meds, and the only way to do so is through a rich diet and regular exercise. Who am I kidding? This may require some freakish exercise. Calm down folks, I am only saying that a hour of exercise won't cut it. Plus, if I am not working, I tend to be chilling, basically doing nothing. Time to do something!

  1. Keep a water bottle with you at all times and drink from it often. Water should always be your drink of choice. To kick things up every once in a while, try adding lemon, lime, cucumber, or a few berries to liven up the flavor without adding significant calories.
  2. Look at exercise as a pleasure and a privilege, not a burden or chore. Think positively about the changes regular exercise will produce. Rather than obsessing about your next meal, get excited about your next workout!
  3. Eat well-balanced meals and remember that excess calories, even if they’re from food that’s fat free and high in protein, will turn to excess weight. No matter what the latest fad diet says, extra calories equal extra weight!
  4. Limit caffeine and exposure to even secondhand smoke.
  5. Focus on short-term fitness goals with an emphasis on completing daily exercise.
  6. Keep a daily log of what you’re actually eating. This includes every time you grab a handful of chips here or eat the crust of your kid’s sandwich there, and ALL of your snacking.
  7. Enjoy an occasional (once a week) “unhealthy” treat, but never an unhealthy week or unhealthy vacation.
  8. Enjoy contributing to the health of others by having a partner or friends to exercise with, as well as recruiting others who want to feel better and have more energy. Have a neighbor who’s sitting on the porch every morning when you walk by? Ask him or her to join you on your walk!
  9. Avoid monotony by taking up new forms of exercising, or using things that keep you motivated and inspired, like new shoes or great music.
  10. Subscribe to fitness magazines to keep focused on health as an overall way of life.
  11. Invest in the right tools—good shoes, a portable MP3 player or iPod®, fitness equipment, a new series of tapes, etc.
  12. Make it your goal to do some form of exercise 6 or 7 days a week. If some days you exercise once in the morning and once in the evening, even better! If you’re eating right, exercise will fuel your energy level!
  13. Don’t compare your body to others’. Instead, work to be your personal best.
  14. If your diet is unbalanced, take daily vitamin and mineral supplements for total health.
  15. Work to take your exercise to new levels of intensity.
  16. Create an exercise schedule the day before instead of leaving it to chance or waiting to “find” the time. If our last three Presidents of the United States can make time to work out every day, you can make time too!
  17. Move beyond the boundaries of weight loss and into total fitness. Measure success by the way your clothes fit, not some number on a scale.
  18. Stick with eating plans you can maintain indefinitely. Remember that no matter how hard you’re working out, if you’re consuming too many calories, you’ll never see the muscles that lie beneath layers of fatty tissue.
  19. Get adequate amounts of sleep, but remember that people who exercise regularly fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly.
  20. Limit alcohol intake to special occasions.


Healthy vs. Real Life



I created this blog awhile ago and prior to today hadn't done much with it. Part of the reason is because I am not sure of where to start. I know what I want for myself, but not sure how to go about achieving it. For me, weight loss isn't just about appearances, but I hope to be able to have children one day, be active with them, and break bad eating habits for myself and future family. This blog will essentially serve as an accountability factor for myself. My thinking is that if I have an audience I would watch myself a tad bit more. Of course, it also serves as an online diary and tracker for me reaching my goals and later me holding on to those goals. I have some ideas about what things I want to try and currently I am researching them. The biggest issue I think I face, along with others, is Healthy Eating verses Real Life Eating. It's so much harder than people think. Yes, the fruit looks good, but so does the cake at the birthday party. I guess on this journey, I'll be trying to figure what MY balance is!! Know this, everyone has their own balance. In life I have learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to someone else, but instead compare yourself to who you were they day, year, or decade before. In the end you will only be judged on what YOU did. Plus, factor in your body is different from everyone else and there you have it. Well, welcome to my Journey to a Healthier Me!
